Selected Achievements

Lead Co-ordinator for Art in Empty Spaces Programme: Arts Council England

  • Art in Empty Spaces programme (initiative to encourage creative activities within empty shops). Supported the East Midlands office to produce a plan of action and deliver a meeting for local authorities and applicants, using a presentation with case studes, which was shared with other Arts Council offices and to external clients.  Worked with the Finance and Business team and the National lead for the project, successfully negotiated flexibility to the Grants for the Arts funding criteria for Art in Empty Spaces applicants. East Midlands office successfully awarded 5 applications from a £52k funding pot.

Project Manager for Beat-s-kool project: 27a Access Artspace Ltd

  • Delivered a program and managed budget of £6k for a drumming and digital photography course, aimed at young people with learning and physical disabilities based in Leicester and Leicestershire.  My role as project manager included supporting the artists with the successful delivery of the sessions and as the Arts Award advisor, delivering extra sessions to ensure that all participants were able to achieve an Arts Award at Bronze level.  As part of the project I produced an evaluaton report for Leicestershire County Council.

Cultural Practitioner for Creative Partnerships, BAM

  • Piloted a series of creative activities with a budget of £4k, for year 2 children at a primary school in Nottinghamshire. Delivered a series of sessions to develop digital techniques, using video and digital stills cameras and design software packages.  The videos, photographs and artwork was displayed in an exhibition at Mansfield Museum.

Embrace Arts University of Leicester, Marketing Communications Assistant

My responsibilities include:

  • Update and maintain the Embrace Arts website using Dreamweaver.
  • Promote events, workshops and courses through social media, online profiles, listings, e-flyers and 16+ plasma screens across the University campus.
  • Design accessible print including: flyers, invites, adverts and the internal newsletter.
  • Manage a team of volunteers (students and work placements).
  • Manage distribution and display of Embrace Arts print (internal and external).
  • Manage promotional stands at external events to promote Embrace Arts activities.
  • Liaise with promoters and artists regarding Embrace Arts branding and identity.
  • Duty manager and box office sales assistant for events and performances.
  • Implement sales promotions for students and staff at the University of Leicester.

The Lionheart Project, Participation Project Manager

  • Public engagement program aimed at children and young people from the East Midlands to use as a creative tool, using the Olympic and Paralympic values as inspiration.  Liaised with local authorities and arts and education organisations to organise a tour of the finished commission.  The Lionheart project is part of Artist Taking the Lead (an ambitious large scale arts event), commissioned by The Arts Council to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Arts Council East Midlands, Assistant Officer Visual Arts & Literature team

  • Provided funding advice to Grants for the Arts applicants and new team members via telephone, email and 121 meetings and external events. Assisted the team and others across the organisation by attending strategic meetings and providing a summary for the management team. As part of my administrative role I collated the latest opportunities and success stories to add to the monthly news bulletins, put together agendas, took meeting minutes, organised team diaries, undertook capital and RFO filing, updated contact portfolios and disseminated relevant information for our mailing lists.

LS Production, Freelance Cultural Practitioner and tutor (specialising in visual arts, video, sound recording and digital photography)

  • Worked in partnership with ‘Creative Partnerships’ to plan and deliver creative digital workshops to children and young people in schools (including PRU and ISSP groups) at all levels across Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.  As a Cultural practitioner I was responsible for involving school children and teachers with the creative programming, as well as editing and producing a DVD for each project.  During this time I produced 16 DVD’s on behalf of Creative Partnership schools, community groups and festivals.

27a Access Artspace (disability and arts charity), Project Manager and Marketing Assistant

  • Managed all aspects of creative projects from planning and delivery to design and promotion of marketing material for distribution to clients and local press. Led a team of up to 5 assistants and disseminated tasks and provided art workshop and front of house training by giving practical hands on advice and communicating clearly.

The City Gallery, Education Leader

  • Delivered workshops and offsite festivals to children of all ages and abilities and in particular outreach groups, including children from disadvantaged communities and specialist schools. Managed and trained a team of education assistants on all aspects of planning and delivering workshops.  Assisted the Education Officer with admnistration duties, including designing and distributing promotonal material, writing artist contracts, developing the education programme, installing the education space and liasing with customers.
